Funny sayings
Funny Sayings with life lessonsFor many years I have come up with what I call my funny sayings. They can be a saying of mine or something I heard or quite often a line from a movie or lyric from a song.
They are a saying that for one reason or another have made an impact on my thinking or approach to life.
Here are a few to get started but come back every now and then 'cause I'll add some more from time to time.
"Man's got to know his limitations" - Clint Eastwood from Dirty Harry "Once you know your limitations the exciting thing is you also know just how far you can go." - My take on it. You see if you stop and think about it, once we know honestly, what our limitations are, we automatically must know just how far we really can go. Make sure you don't over estimate your limitations. If you do that, you'll be underestimating your TRUE potential. On persistence and strategy and having a go:"There is no point praying for the rain if you don’t even have the dams designed let alone built." - Not sure where I got that from – pretty sure it’s not a total original of mine but I use it a lot. Putting this into business, why set up all the advertising or start the selling process, if you don't even have a business or marketing plan. Imagine running the TV advertising campaign, getting heaps of orders; and then saying " hmmmm wonder where I will get these made and by whom.
"If you reach for the stars you may not make it but at least you may get off the plains into the hills or the mountains." - One of mine that I live by. I always have big dreams and ambitions, and over the years I have not always reached to the pinnacle of those dreams but I can assure you I have been more than happy of where I did get to. Imagine imagine if Olympians didn't didn't dream of Gold, how many of them over the decades would not have won silver, bronze or only achieved 5th BEST in the world. On integrity and honesty:“What is a man what has he got, if not himself then he has not. To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels” - Frank Sinatra My Way From the first time I heard this song, it has always driven and motivated me. Just read through those words and think about their true meaning. If all the leaders and politicians could trully live to those words, the world will be a better place. Over the years I have supposedly lost lots of money or opportunities, because I put my ethics and morals ahead of money but you know what, I am very very happy with the life I have had and the one for my future. So what's more important for you as a role model to YOU, or your children, family, flow workers or community at large the value put on your monetary wealth or the value they put on what you stand for? “Every thing I have or own in this life can be taken from me except for one thing, my name and that only I can give away; there isn’t a price high enough for me to do it” Another one of mine that I live by. |
